The captain of the high school basketball team, he was set to star on a Downington professional club but the team withdrew when the owner's refused to pay the $50 forfeit fee. He played at Temple as a freshmen and bounced around with various semi-pro teams and also played in the ABL with Cleveland and Paterson. He would work at J.B. Swayne Mushroom Cannery in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, for 25 years before retiring to Arizona.

He was married to Lillian.
