Hubbard joined the U.S. Marines in December of 1943, after playing part of the season at Hamline. He return to Hamline after being discharged in December of 1946. He played basketball and baseball while at Hamline, and signed with the Saints in the PBLA after his days at Hamline. He also put in a season with the Steelers in the Southern League. He later moved to Lake Worth, Florida, where he worked as a golf pro.

He and his wife Shirley had a son and two daughters.
