NATIONAL BASKETBALL HALL OF FAME, 1998

Out of Williamstown, Kentucky, Risen originally wanted to attend the University of Kentucky but was not offered a scholarship, so he went to Eastern Kentucky instead. After one season there, he transferred to Ohio State. Known as "Stilts" because of his lanky build, the 6'9, 200 pound played professionally for 14 seasons. He was elected into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1998.

He was married to Betty Barnes and they had a son,  Dennis, and a daughter, Barbara.
